Hi, my name is Quoc and I’m a senior Computer Science student at the University of Manitoba. My focus areas are Software Engineering and Game Development. Beside technical experience I have also worked as a tutor/TA/marker for various range of students in many countries:

Short institution or course description (optional) Founded in 1877, University of Manitoba is the first university of western Canada. Standing at 11th place in National School Ranking, it is home to many Nobel Prize recipients, Academy Award winners, Order of Merit recipients, and Olympic medalists, among many others.

Started my study at the University of Manitoba in 2017, I have taken so many great courses with wonderful professors and learnt most of my key skills such as teamwork and working under pressure (deadline:) ) Right now I am a senior student, actively searching for an internship and working motivatively on side projects (Game Dev)

agBOT is an award-winning, interdisciplinary student team committed to the development of innovative, autonomous agricultural machines and infrastructure that meet the needs of the future farmer.

  • Participated in Weed and Feed division
  • Analized previous years data to suggest improvement
  • Successfully upgraded GPS to improve the smart vehicle’s cognition

A two consecutive day of orientation for new students to help them get used to UoM, learn about the school's policies and are introduced handy tips.

CoderDojo Brisbane

2016

CoderDojo built a global network of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Anyone aged seven to seventeen can visit a Dojo where they can learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment.

  • Taught and inspired kids to learn to code led them to start mini-projects
  • Presented cool and fun sample projects with instructions on how to make them to keep kids interested
  • Inspired new cool designs in Minecraft mob by playing/testing kids’ designs and provide meaningful feedback

Projects

The University Textbook Trading Application (UTTA) is an application, developed by a group of university students that allow students to buy and sell textbooks and course materials from other students. It will allow for students to sell and post their used course material and also allow students to purchase them, similar to Facebook Marketplace or Kijiji.

  • Initially and successfully proposed origin ideal for UTTA project
  • Produced automated acceptance test and system test
  • Implemented important objects required for the application
  • Comprehensively created and managed data in the database

A small self-motivated Unity game, using texts and interactive choices to tell a horror story

  • Used Unity to developed a text-based horror game
  • Developed a horror story as the main theme of the game (inspired by Outlast and Amnesia series)
  • Integrated main story and choices to keep player interested in the flow of the game

Computer Science Tutor

October 2014 - April 2015

NSC Help Center is a great place for students in NSC to come looking for help with any subject from writing, history to Engineer and Computer Science. No booking is required as the Help Center has so many tutor, provides face to face tutoring with only a short wait time.

Worked as a part-time tutor with my responsibility is to help walk-in students with their problems in Computer Science courses:

  • Worked with students in classrooms, small study areas or home environments to provide educational support
  • Mentored students with programming fundamentals in Python and Pascal using flexible and customizable study plans
  • Provided specific one-on-one sessions for students to improve their skills based on their level of academic competency
  • Improved student’s codes, especially runtime and performance base on making changes in their choices of data types and structures
